What is Maple Syrup?
Maple syrup is a natural syrup made by boiling the sap of a certain species of maple tree that grows in North America and Canada. The sap is extracted here in the spring by drilling a hole in the bark. The juice is collected and boiled to evaporate all the water. It takes about 40 liters of sap to make 1 liter of maple syrup.
Boiling thickens the juice into a syrup, after which it is filtered and bottled in jars, bottles or cans. During this process, all nutrients are preserved. Maple syrup is a fantastic natural source of sucrose, high in minerals, and contains no fat.
